Pest Control Options for Termites in North Bergen, NJ

There are many older homes in North Bergen, NJ that may be susceptible to having pest problems, perhaps a problem that may have developed over many years. The amount of people who have lived in a residence over time can create different types of infestations, depending on the daily habits of the folks within those walls. But, no matter who lives there, termites that have invaded a house can be some of the hardest pests to eliminate.

The thing about termites is that even if they have been spotted it may already be too late. These insects are some of the most destructive in existence, and work their way from the inside-out of panels, walls, and other wooden areas of your home. Many times they are found in basements along walls and all over cardboard boxes that have been sitting in one place for an extended period. They also love to inhabit damp areas, and basements are descriptive of that kind of environment in lots of homes.

Landlords have a responsibility to be sure that residences are fit to inhabit, so when a family moves from a townhome they should immediately begin preparing that house for potential renters or buyers. Still, there are those landlords out there who will cut a corner every chance they get. If they see something such as termite damage, they may try to cover it up depending on the person who they are renting to next. If the landlord feels that the person would not recognize an infestation, they may talk them into signing the contract before a thorough inspection is conducted. Then, if the renter complains later, the landlord can simply say that everything was fine before they moved in.

As a house gets older, there will always be a chance of termite damage. So, if you are about to rent a home and are not an expert on what to look for as far as pest damage, ask as many questions as you can to the landlord. See what their policy is when it comes to pest control at the place, and if there have been any infestations in the past. But, for the best peace of mind, request that they have a pest control technician inspect the property before moving in.

The landlord could be all about making the sale, and not so concerned with what pests will show up a couple of weeks after you move in. These pests were probably there all along, just not in plain sight. Before signing anything, the pest control professional will make you aware of any rodents or bugs that are already in the house, or ones that can potentially come in. It will be better to find out in the beginning before spending money to the landlord for a deposit.
