Swarmers, workers and soldiers look different

Winged termite swarmers have a broad waist, relatively straight antennae and wings of similar length. The photograph shows soldiers with darker heads among pale termites; these are different from the winged adults you may find at a window.

Are flying ants termites?

No. Ants have a narrow waist and bent antennae, and their front wings are larger than the hind pair. A close photograph or specimen can help confirm the distinction.
