Rats

Repeated rat sightings, droppings, gnaw marks and burrows can point to activity around a property. At restaurants, shops and apartment buildings, start by noting where waste is stored, where deliveries arrive and where rats appear to travel. A rat seen outside does not by itself prove that rats are living inside the building.

An inspection should connect the sightings with food, shelter and possible entrances. Simply adding more bait without addressing those conditions can leave the reason for the activity unchanged.

Use closed refuse containers, clear spilled food and report damaged door sweeps or utility openings. Avoid disturbing burrows or handling rodents. Do not dry-sweep or vacuum untreated droppings. Cleanup precautions matter, particularly in enclosed spaces or where there is substantial contamination.
